John (Mad Dog) Marino was raised in the Bronx, as a kid he grew up on the music of the streets, often playing harp just out of reach of the big kids on the corner. At age 16 he heard a bluesman named Lightning Hopkins when he came to town and as John puts it “from that day on, there was no more rock and roll.” After a short stint as a cabbie and a failed marriage, John took to the high country. Settling in the Adirondacks there he remarried, raised two sons and built a business. Life had its ups and downs, women came and went, business’s failed, but one thing was always constant. John had the blues. The blues was no longer his mistress, it became his lover.
